Dignity Should Never Feel Like a Luxury 

In 2023, Heather and Gary Duruda founded Scripture in the Suds, driven by a compelling vision and mission. Their vision is both simple and profound: to turn an everyday necessity into a resource accessible to all, as they firmly believe that dignity should never be considered a luxury. Their mission is to combat hygiene poverty, one bar of soap at a time, extending hope to those in need. Each bar is paired with a scripture card, they pray that the right scripture reaches the right person at just the right moment, creating a meaningful impact in their lives.

In 2026, Scripture in the Suds rebranded as H.O.P.E in the Soap, welcoming Russell Cox to  join the fight!

Russell, a minister with 12 years of experience, recently joined the Ready Now Recovery program as a Hood County Facilitator. His mission is to support individuals at all stages of addiction as they embark on their recovery journey, in addition to serving as our Chief Operations Officer. He believes no one should be without H.O.P.E

Heather dedicated three years to mastering the art of soap making before crafting her first bar. Through a process of trial and error, they refined their signature soap recipe, made from high-quality, sustainably sourced oils and butters, and free from harsh chemicals. Heather's passion for this mission is deeply rooted in her childhood experiences with hygiene poverty, where she witnessed her family and others in her neighborhood struggle to obtain the basic necessities for survival and care. She believes that no child should ever feel undignified due to circumstances beyond their control.

Gary, with 18 years of experience in the quality assurance field, understands the importance of delivering an exceptional product to a deserving community. When he began using the bars of soap that Heather created, he knew he had to do everything possible to support their mission!
